Justice League #56 "Whatever Happened to the Freedom Fighters?" (part two)

The only thing you need to know to enjoy this story if you are already aware of the Freedom Fighters' history is that in order to drag these adventures into more recent history I decided to swap out Earth-2 Superman with Power Girl. I also made the Sandman into the newer, younger Sandy Hawkins version. I hope these changes don't prevent you from enjoying "my" take on these three super groups!
What has gone-before department:
Red Tornado has asked the participants from the JLA-JSA get-together to figure out what happened to the Freedom Fighters after they moved to Earth-1. The two teams search for clues to the Fighters' whereabouts. They learn that the Fighters recently battled members of the Secret Society of Super-Villains and were captured by them! Green Arrow and Power Girl rescue the Ray, who had managed to escape. Dr. Fate uses his mystical powers to locate the other Fighters, and now the JLA-JSA head towards a showdown with the SSOSV!

JUSTICE LEAGUE 54: Bring On the Bad Guys QUIZ!
I bragged that this issue would feature 25 (count 'em 25!) bad guys. I managed to pull it off, but to tell you the truth, trying to choreograph all these characters was a bigger hassle than I anticipated! LOL! Who was next to who in that scene? Where did what's his name go? Did I include that guy yet? Unlike film, I had to remember to DRAW them all in the same place. It was a major problem!
Anyway, I did manage to include 25 characters, plus five more just for good measure. But how many do YOU recognize? Let's see!

Giant-Size Justice League #51

Justice League #51: "Amazo's Triumph!"

This adventure came to light when I was reviewing our space station digital records...of a time before Zatanna, Elongated Man, Hawkman, or I had joined the Justice League!
This is a story featuring Amazo, that amazing android who absorbed ALL the powers of the original Justice League. And this time, he comes incredibly close to killing all of my friends! You must read,
Justice League #51: "The Justice League Song!"
I would like to present something to you that is truly bizarre! If you are familiar with Power Records from the Seventies and Eighties, you may already know that there was an LP in 1975 called "Songs and Stories About the Justice League of America" that featured the Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and....Plastic Man and Metamorpho!?!? Read on!

JL #50 "Challenge of the Legion of Doom!"
Look out! The Legion of Doom in my fan-fic Justice League #50 is finally here!
The above is the "official" cover, by none other than "Lightning" Luke Daab!
(You can get your own copy here: Daab Creative Legion of Doom print)
My last issue was from July 2020. And at about that time "Daring" Derek Crabbe made this action figure variant cover for me! I love it, and I'm sure you feel the same!
Or, for you Super Friends purists out there, how about this old-school illustration by "Jiving" Jared Alberich!? I took his great picture and glued it to a picture of the Hall of Justice that I happened to have. Holy Super Background, Batman!!
Luke, Derek, and Jared are just three of my Super Friends, who provided covers for my story. Tim Wallace, Andy Kapellusch, Ashton Burge, Aaron Bias, and Gautam Sheoran helped me do the heavy lifting. And Chris Franklin, Greg Schmidt, and Bill Walko provided additional pin-ups! I want to say a great big THANK YOU to all of my Super Friends!!
And now, with no further ado... I bring you my fan-fic Justice League #50!

Prelude to Justice League #50!
| art by Luke Daab |
Welcome to the introduction of my 50th fan-fiction Justice League story! I always knew that I wanted to make this issue something special. Initially, I hit upon the idea of having the Legion of Doom in this issue and this issue would be my LAST one! Although I reconsidered that part, I kept the Legion of Doom.

JL#48: "For Truth and For Justice!"
I started working on this story after the white supremacist demonstration at Virginia University in 2017. While reading about what happened there I suddenly wondered what *would* have happened if the Justice League existed in OUR world. How would they face racists and white supremacists who have the First Amendment freedom to be hateful? Two years later, it's finally finished.
I hope you like it. There are sequences that did not turn out as well as I had hoped they would (mostly the art) but I do think it reads somewhat like a "real" JLA story. Please leave a comment if you have any thoughts on it at all.
Thank you!
If you are not familiar with these characters, you can check out quick profiles of them here.

JL#47: "Night of the Living Dead!"
Featuing An All-Star Line-Up of Guest Artists
Note: the only thing you need to know before reading this story is that it is set in the "Multiverse" Satellite Era of the JLA. John Stewart is the main Green Lantern on Earth; Hal Jordan is HIS back-up. Also, Martian Manhunter never went back to Mars, but the Atom quit to move to Brazil.

JL #45 "Toyman's WAR on Christmas" Afterwards
First off I want to thank my cyber friends Tim Wallace and Ashton Burge with giving me two great "variant" covers this time out. Thanks guys, they look great!!
As for my cover, a tip of the hat to Ramona Fradon and Bob Smith, who provided the source for me on Super Friends #24. I originally played with the idea of having a smiling Toyman on a videoscreen ala the Wonder Twins, but I kinda like how the caroling mannequins turned out.
In case you haven't read the story yet, let's continue this discussion WITH SPOILERS after the jump.
