The Silver Ghost
Art by Scott McLeod

Now THIS is an interesting entry! I very much "feel" the presence of Freedom Fighter writer Bob Rozakis on this entry, as the history and background of the Silver Ghost sounds very much like what Rozakis was intending to do with the character before the Fighters' book and Secret Society of Super-Villains were both cancelled! Here's Rozakis' specific plans for the group and the villain from the letter column in DC Comics Presents #62 to refresh your memory:

However, because Marv Wolfman and George Perez used the Silver Ghost (and Firebrand) in CRISIS, the last sentence of this profile had to be added: Though it has not been revealed how, (his) condition was reversed and he took part in the so-called Crisis on Infinite Earths. His present whereabouts are unknown.

It must be weird to have a super-power that you gained by travelling between interdimensional worlds, when you actually DIDN'T do that.

As for the art, it is definitely pleasant on the eyes. However, the Silver Ghost's uniform is a tad different than how he appeared in the Freedom Fighters; for one thing, this Silver Ghost is not wearing his cape, but he is wearing a visor. He looks good, so I guess that's all that counts. As for the artist, I could find no information Scott McLeod. Unless he changed his name, I don't think he ever became a full-time comic-book artist.

Freedom of Information

  • The Silver Ghost appears on the back cover.
  • Although illustrated in the profile, the Silver Ghost never turned Uncle Sam into silver. He only ever changed Black Condor, Doll Man, and Phantom Lady.
