Kubert was born in a part of Poland that is now part of the Ukraine in 1926. He emigrated to the United States as an infant, and grew up in New York City. He started working at DC Comics in 1943 when he was only 17 years old. Eventually he worked during the Golden Age, the Silver Age, and the Bronze Age, too.
Today he is best known for his work on HAWKMAN and on his war characters, such as SGT ROCK and ENEMY ACE. However, he also worked on TARZAN and other ERB properties.
